Discovering the Different Smudging Sticks
After years of research and field trials, I have learned to identify the herbs commonly used as Smudging Sticks for this practice.

Sage Smudging Sticks For Cleansing
The Herb: Common sage ('Salvia Officinalis').
Harvest Time: During spring and autumn.
Metaphysical Associations: Masculine in nature, it is linked to the Air Element. It is associated with the Planet Jupiter. Sage is sacred to Greek Zeus and Roman Jupiter.

Juniper For Expansion
The Herb: Juniper.
Harvest Time: Year-round.

Smudging practice benefits: Its piney scent and cleansing power attract positive energies. It serves as a protective ward against unpleasant ones.

The Herb: Lavender.
Harvest Time: Throughout the year, with care for bees during spring.
Metaphysical Associations: Masculine in nature, Lavender is associated with Mercury. Aligned with the Air Element. It vibrates with the astrological sign Virgo.
Smudging practice benefits: Used for its cleansing and psychic protection. Lavender brings happiness and tranquility. It also enhances clairvoyance and brings purification.

The Herb: Rosemary.

Smudging practice benefits: This Herb of Remembering is used for cleansing and protection. It is also used in healing rites. It brings peace and feminine empowerment.
